On Dec 17, the Gwangju Family Court issued a partial citation regarding the inheritance lawsuits Goo Ho In filed against his birth mother. Such a ruling was made after the court took into account that the father raised the kids alone for about 12 years without the motherŌĆÖs help. Goo Ho InŌĆÖs lawyer Noh Jong Un released an official statement, in which he wrote, ŌĆ£The Gwangju Family Court determined that the contribution of the survivors was at 20% on Dec 18. As a result, the late Goo HaraŌĆÖs inheritance will be split 6:4 instead of 5:5 between the family and the mother.ŌĆØ He then stressed that the courtŌĆÖs judgment, while not entirely what they hoped for, is a major step forward from the current system of law, in which the ŌĆ£Goo Hara ActŌĆØ has not yet been passed, and added, ŌĆ£Without the ŌĆśGoo Hara Act,ŌĆÖ it is practically impossible to take away their inheritance right from the parents who have abandoned their children. In that sense, we need to pass the ŌĆśGoo Hara Act.ŌĆÖŌĆØ Source (1)
