In the latest episode of The Penthouse 3: War in Life, Park appeared as the new character Alex Lee, the twin brother of ParkŌĆÖs previous role Logan Lee. However, after the episode was aired, many international viewers pointed out that the new character was portrayed with cultural appropriation. On June 12th, the actor posted the following letter on his TikTok account. ŌĆ£Regarding the drama Penthouse character Alex, IŌĆÖd like to let everyone know that none of the appearances that were driven by the character was falsely intentional to harm, mock, disrespect, or discourage the African-American community. IŌĆÖd like to apologize to the people who took offense by the characterŌĆÖs appearance. It was more admiration of the culture than mockery, but now IŌĆÖm aware that the approach was more CA. It was a wrong attempt for character development. Again IŌĆÖd like to apologize to those who took offense, and I was a minority myself shouldŌĆÖve known better. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow in awareness. I hope you have the sincerity in your hearts to give the benefit of the doubt, that AlexŌĆÖs appearance was rather a character approach who admired the culture and wanted to ŌĆ£beŌĆØ like, not intentionally portraying mockery.ŌĆØ Following his apology, the drama fans showed mixed opinions. These are some of the comments: ŌĆ£He really stirred up a sensitive issue.ŌĆØ ŌĆ£This is not an actorŌĆÖs fault. ItŌĆÖs the production crewŌĆÖs fault.ŌĆØ ŌĆ£He should have been more careful, but his apology was spot on.ŌĆØ ŌĆ£Why is he apologizing?ŌĆØ Even after the actor has taken the blame, The Penthouse production team is still remaining silent regarding the issue.
