Disney Plus is struggling desperately in Korea. Disney Plus, which ventured into Korea in November of last year, isnŌĆÖt seeing a good enough result despite making huge investments and presenting trendy content. Even the recently-released show Connect is getting lukewarm responses from viewers, worsening the situation. The platform chose aggressive marketing for Connect, which was released on the 7th. It released all six episodes at once instead of releasing in sequentially, and the show started its promotion at the BIFF in October. However, Connect only ranked first in Japan and Hong Kong, second in Indonesia and Taiwan, and fifth in Singapore (as of the 14th). Even in Korea, it ended up in second place following Reborn Rich since the 11th. Criticism also continued. The show only received 6.5 ratings on IMDB, and some of the reviews read, ŌĆ£No wonder itŌĆÖs below average,ŌĆØ ŌĆ£Started disconnecting after episode 3,ŌĆØ and ŌĆ£Watch for acting.ŌĆØ Disney Plus had 1.79 million MAU (monthly active users) in October. This is one-sixth of NetflixŌĆÖs 11.36 million. This is still relatively low compared to TVINGŌĆÖs 3.4 million, WavveŌĆÖs 4.16 million, and Coupang PlayŌĆÖs 3.54 million. Will the platform be able to turn the page with Big Bet with a budget of 20 billion won (about $15 million)? Source (1)
